Ms. Feaster was a young nursing student when she came to work for DCVAMC in 1965.  During her time with VA, she earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing.  She held many positions of increasing responsibilities and in 2005, “Geri” was appointed Chief Nurse Executive.  She is responsible for oversight of a 600-plus staff. Nursing Service has made great strides during her tenure, achieving extraordinary recognition for DCVAMC nurses through the national nursing sorority Sigma Theta Tau, as the recipient of Nursing Innovation Awards, and in many national news stories, including the Washington Post and Nursing Spectrum magazine.

In January, Ms. Feaster will retire after 45 years of dedicated service.

The Pride in Place Program honors DCVAMC team members for significant contributions in their field, in VA and in their communities.
