A Wish Fulfilled

Navy Veteran Douglas Schiliro with his horse "James Brown"

Navy Veteran Douglas Schiliro of Ft. Washington, MD enjoys riding and the outdoors. Mr. Schiliro is currently residing in the DC VA Medical Center's Community Living Center. He told the staff of the Palliative and Hospice team that he would love to see his horse "James Brown" one more time. The staff connected with Schiliro's fiancé, Ms. Vernell Harris, and his riding buddies, to fulfill his wish. On July 20, Mr. Schiliro had a wonderful surprise, as did the employees of the Medical Center, when a large horse trailer arrived with the Veteran's beloved horse, "James Brown."
