Select Zips Dry Cleaners locations are collecting gently-used coats and winter clothing to be distributed at the Washington DC VA Medical Center (DCVAMC)'s Winterhaven Homeless Stand Down Jan. 21. For the past several years, Zips has collected the clothing, laundered the items and delivered them to the Medical Center prior to Winterhaven.

Several hundred homeless Veterans are expected at the Medical Center for the 16th annual Winterhaven Homeless Stand Down. Medical Center leaders hope this will be among the last stand downs in the nation's capital, as 2011 begins year number three of President Obama's initiative to end homelessness in five years.

The Winterhaven Homeless Stand Down will be held Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the VA Medical Center, 50 Irving Street, NW, Washington, DC. Winterhaven brings together more than 70 community agencies, Veteran Service Organizations, and national and local businesses to provide one-stop support and services to homeless Veterans.
