A group of interns from the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center (DCVAMC) were given a rare opportunity to visit the White House July 10 for a self-guided tour. The interns were able to go at their own pace while touring most of the East wing of the White House, and were able to see several banquet rooms, as well as the china room, and rooms used by the first lady to entertain guests from all over the world.
The paid internship program at DCVAMC is geared toward college students seeking summer employment as well as experience in their respective field, all while working in a government setting. Interns at DCVAMC are presented with an extremely unique opportunity to work in almost every department of the hospital, including anesthesiology, nursing, public affairs, information technology, pharmacy, and even surgery. The internship program includes approximately 54 interns who will work through September 1, 2012.
