  • Provide peer review of all proposed research
  • Ensure the protection of all human subjects
  • Ensure the humane care of all research animals
  • Ensure safety in all research laboratories and clinical settings

Research at the Washington VAMC is a multi-dimensional endeavor addressing a broad spectrum of health-related issues including AIDS, tuberculosis, cardiovascular and renal disease, mental illness, war-related injuries, drug abuse, alcoholism, and others. Patients are drawn from the metropolitan Washington area; Martinsburg, West Virginia; and nationally for referral to our specialized centers.

All patient inquiries are handled by the respective Services in which clinical studies are conducted.
