June 29th is Dental Awareness Day

Your mouth is the gateway to your body; it has to stay healthy just like the rest of you. It is important to understand that one's teeth affect their entire health. Poor dental care can affect how you eat by not allowing you to chew food well. Heart disease and diabetes have now been linked to poor dental care.

Dental care starts with regular brushing and flossing….

The Washington DC VAMC offers dental services to specific groups of eligible veterans. Recently discharged active duty personnel, those who are 100% service connected and former POWs are some groups that are eligible for care. Not everyone is eligible for dental care, so it is important to get information.

The facility will also send out dental hygienists out in the community to reach certain veterans.
