Flag Raising Ceremony at VA Medical Center

In recognition of the invaluable contributions of veterans" service organizations (VSO) to the veterans and the VA, the Washington DC VA Medical Center (DCVAMC) established a VSO Appreciation and Recognition program. The program invites VSOs to raise the flag of their organizations on the medical center campus and to educate veterans and employees through an “Understanding Veterans” lunch and learn series and displays of memorabilia and VSO materials throughout the medical center.

Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is the current organization being honored by the medical center. On Friday, November 9, VVA raised its flag at a moving ceremony on campus. Acting Associate Director, Martin Wiseman, and Chief of Staff, Dr. Ross D. Fletcher, represented the Director, Fernando O. Rivera, at the ceremony and gave remarks. Rick Weidman, Director, Government Relations for VVA raised the flag with representatives of the VVA Department of DC.
