Washington DC VA Medical Center

Pride in Place program highlights professional accomplishments of DCVAMC staff members.

In an effort to recognize the outstanding achievements of DCVAMC staff members, encourage teamwork and improve employee satisfaction, the Veterans Service Advisory Council of DCVAMC established the Pride in Place program. Among the 1700 employees of the medical center are many unsung heroes, people who go beyond the call of duty to assist veterans and their fellow employees. Whether they hold managerial positions or work behind the scenes keeping the facility clean, the equipment operating and the patients fed, they are all employee heroes in whom we take much pride. Therefore, on a regular basis, employees will be honored. Their accomplishments will be highlighted in a new display case located in the atrium near the Eligibility Office.

The first honoree is Dr. Ross D. Fletcher, Chief of Staff. Dr. Fletcher is a highly regarded Cardiologist and an inspiring leader. He has been instrumental in the implementation and enhancement of the VAs electronic health record system (EHR). He has been a spokesperson for the system for several years, providing demonstrations to high level government officials (including the Presidents Cabinet) and international health leaders.

Our next honorees represent Nutrition and Food Service, Social Work Service and Facilities Management Service.
