Whether your summer plans take you to the beach or simply outside gardening, don't forget to keep healthy! During high temperatures (above 90 degrees) and high humidity stay cool and in the shade to help prevent against heat-related illnesses. Signs of heat-related illness include: lack of energy lasting a couple of day; dizziness, fainting, fast heart beat, headache, nausea, dry skin with no sweat and mental changes. During these days it is important to drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and eating too much salt, remember to wear light weight and light colored clothing and get help if you feel unusually light headed, dizzy or confused. The goal is to keep cool and hydrated. Shop, exercise, and run your errands in the early morning or late afternoon when the temperature outside is cooler.
