Women Veterans Writing Project

Monday, August 25, 2014

Women Veterans are invited to learn to channel memories into words with the Women Veterans Writing Project, a free 13-week creative writing workshop held at the Washington DC VA Medical Center.  The workshop is conducted by the Veterans Writing Project, a non-profit organization which conducts no-cost writing workshops and seminars for Veterans, active duty, and family members.

The workshops have three purposes: literary, to preserve the stories for future generations; social, to bridge the gap between Veterans and civilians; and therapeutic, to help the Veterans develop the skills and confidence to tell their story and perhaps lessen the effects of depression and PTSD.

The Women Veterans workshop begins September 17 and meets every Wednesday at 11:30 am. A light lunch will be provided. To allow for individualized instruction, spaces are limited. Another workshop for all Veterans is planned for later this fall. To sign up or for more information, please contact Chaplain Service at 202-745-8000, ext. 58143.
