Ms. Washington-Shields, who serves as the Medical Support Assistant in the Medical Center's Podiatry Clinic has been named the Washington DC VA Medical Center Employee of the Month for July. Veterans continually praise her for her excellent customer service and her team members appreciate her for her "team player mindset" and how she diligently works beyond her tour of duty to schedule a back-log of outstanding consults. She has been serving Veterans for the past 13 years in a variety of capacities. She says her favorite thing about working at the VA Medical Center is "I love working here with the Veterans, we're just like family".
