Washington DC VA Medical Center (DCVAMC) is part of VA's Mobile Health, a series of pilot projects, which are providing Veterans, and family caregivers with additional opportunities to become active partners in their health care. VA Mobile Health is providing the tools Veterans and their caregivers need to live healthier lives and stay organized with appointments, medications, secure messaging, lab results and self-entered information such as blood pressure and PTSD symptoms.

Recently, VA loaned 1,000 iPads to family caregivers around the country in an effort to help them stay organized, save time, and even manage stress. The iPads came pre-loaded with VA Mobile Health applications (apps) which allow for two-way communication and access to portions of the Veterans’ electronic health records.

Throughout the year, as part of the VA Mobile Health project, VA will be releasing a series of secure applications to transform the way care is delivered and improve communication and coordination between Veterans and their health care team.

Health care doesn’t end when your office visit is over and VA Mobile Health is helping to ensure Veterans and their caregivers have the VA support when and where it’s needed. For more information about VA Mobile Health visit: https://mobilehealth.va.gov
